Guadalupe Gardens

The Guadalupe Gardens comprises the approximately 120 acres of mostly vacant City-owned Airport Approach Zone property immediately south of the Airport and generally bounded by I-880, Coleman Avenue, and the Guadalupe River Park. Most of the land was originally acquired and cleared by the City, with FAA funds, for Airport noise and safety compatibility purposes.

The Guadalupe Gardens Master Plan approved by the City and FAA in 2002 is an open space land use plan intended to improve the appearance of the vacant land and provide for low density public utilization through a mix of attractive horticultural, agricultural, and passive recreation elements. The Airport Department oversees the implementation of the Master Plan in coordination with the City’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department and the community non-profit Friends of Guadalupe River Park & Gardens.
